Mich-Ohio Sport fishing Expo 2008

Well, it is only 2 days since the show ended, and everyone seems to have caught his or her breath, after smiling non-stop for two whole days! Yes, if you have not heard, the show was a resounding success! It was a success due to everyone, who participated, organized, worked at or supported the show.

If you were to look at the on-line blogs on Great Lakes Angler and Michigan Sportsman, you would see much Kudos to a job well done. This doesn’t even include the results of the vendor survey’s that were turned in which show that over 93% of the vendors, want to come back for next years show!

Even with the weather not cooperating, the show managed to pull people from as far away as Dayton OH, Ft Wayne IN, and Jackson MI! Guess we handed a heck of lot of fliers out!

What it says to me is that the old fashioned, smaller show, based on fishing, still has a place!

Our thanks go out to all our seminar speakers for their knowledge and skills, which drew many a customer in to see them.

Troy Wallwood, Jay Frolenko,  Jim Karr, Michael Veine, Steve Kunnath, Ronnie Levitan, Don Miller, Bob Goodings, and Paul Curmi.

Our thanks to the West Basin Charter Boat Association for their helping to staff the doors.

Let us hear it for the committee chair people who helped organize and run the show, Rich Montre, Carroll White, Steve Gardiner, Bob Bilski, Jo Ann Miller, Ray K, and Tom O’Harris.

Do not forget to thank all those who staffed the booths at the show as well! What a good team effort.

Next, all our loyal vendors, many who have been with us for many show’s before, several of which played significant roles in helping to secure other vendors for our 2008 show! We have left the exhibitor list up as there are simply too many to list. However, should you be in need of any of their products or services, let us do our best to reciprocate and take our business to our loyal friends and vendors!

Many thanks to the people of MBT Expo Center and their staff without whom we could not have made this show work as smoothly as it did!

The exact results and details of the show will not be available until March, but suffice to say, we accomplished our goals of recruiting some new members, getting our clubs name out to the public, and not going broke while having a good time!

Well, now that everyone has caught his or her breath, guess what we have to do? Begin planning the Mich-Ohio Sport Fishing Expo 2009. That’s right, success and reducing the stresses associated with such a project, become much easier if you have almost 12 months to prepare, rather than the 4 months in which we accomplished a very, very large project.

When we have the next Board meeting in March, I welcome all members and non-members to attend. The more people we have, the easier it becomes for every person in the club. Therefore, if you would like to participate as committee chairpersons, have ideas to improve upon the show, or simply wish to volunteer to work on one of the committees, we encourage you to come to the next board meeting, the first Thursday, March 2008.

Thanks again to everyone as this could not have happened without you!
